Interesting Historical Tidbit

While looking through the Congressional Globe on American Memory, as is my wont, I came across the mention that on May 20, 1870, Rabbi Isaac M. Wise gave the prayer to open the Senate for that day. Not sure if this is a first for a Rabbi, but it is interesting.
